Planner Calendar - Automated Order Tracking

If the Sales Orders can be automatically designated to the 'Required Date' day slots in the Planner calendar, this gives a great visual overview of all current orders.
This would be mainly applicable to the 'Month' view. In our existing operations, we don't manually assign orders to machines or individuals, as it becomes very tedious and repetitive and doesn't align with the flexible nature of our day-to-day workflow. We don't currently use the Planner calendar for this reason but found this could be a useful function which could be implemented possibly with a custom filter applied to the Planner calendar.
Being able to view which Workflow Category each order is currently assigned to also gives an indication of whether the order is on track or falling behind. This would be very useful to us for orders with secondary processes with subcontractors, where the 'Required Date' doesn't necessary factor in external lead times.

Maybe almost another calendar for order tracking, with a filter for the workflow categories. If you could set expected dates that an order should be in a workflow category, e.g., SO#123 should be in "Fabrication" on 20/3/26, and the job turns red if it hasn't been moved to fabrication by that date, you'd be able to see if it's on track.
You're suggestion of auto-allocation of jobs in the Planner specifically wouldn't work for my business, and I assume quite a few others, but enhanced job tracking capabilities would be great.
